Project Safe PlaceCoeur d'Alene, Idaho—Project Safe Place has received a grant of $2,500 from the Idaho Community Foundation Youth Trust Fund, the Jane Sandy Fund and the Northern Region Greatest Need Fund in the Idaho Community Foundation, providing services and supplies to children in the early stages of crisis at Project Safe Place.

Safe Place is the first step to help for youth in crisis. Local kids deal with difficult situations everyday—problems at home, difficulties in school, trouble with peers. Safe Place provides a way to find help by offering a 24-hour helpline (208.676.0772), access to safe and caring adults, a drop-in center with after-school activities and mentoring, a host-home program, Independent Living services for foster youth as well as nutritious meals, snacks and clothing bank.

“The grant will make it possible for us to continue providing supportive services to our local youth,” said Brandi Smitherman, director of the program. “The Idaho Community foundation deserves special thanks for helping us with this.”
